Meet the arborist

Paul Johannes.

Owner-operator of Johannes Tree Care. ISA Certified Arborist. Wisconsin Arborist Journeyworker. Based in Dousman, working everywhere across southeastern Wisconsin.

The credentials are the formal version. The informal version: every tree pruned, planted, removed, or treated under this name was handled by the same person who would have to face the homeowner if it went wrong — and that person is a certified arborist.

Credentials

What the badges actually mean.

ISA Certified Arborist

The International Society of Arboriculture is the global professional body for tree care. Its Certified Arborist credential requires a minimum of three years of full-time field experience and a written exam covering biology, soil, identification, pruning, planting, diagnosis, safety, and climbing. Recertification every three years through continuing education.

What that means for you: the person making cuts on your tree has tested into the international standard for the work and is continuously responsible for keeping that knowledge current.

Wisconsin Arborist Journeyworker

The Wisconsin Arborist Apprenticeship is a state-registered apprenticeship under Wisconsin's Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards, in coordination with the federal Office of Apprenticeship. A Journeyworker has completed the full apprenticeship cycle: documented field hours, classroom training in arboriculture, and supervised work hours under a journeyworker sponsor.

What that means for you: on top of the international credential, the work is also held to a Wisconsin-specific standard for our climate, our species, and our liability environment.
